Campaign gives the LGBTQIA+ community a presence and raises awareness
EAT HAPPY, the market leader for sushi to go, is taking part in ColognePride for the first time this year with a truck and a group of people on foot. To honour the parade’s motto “For human rights: Many. Together. Strong!” the Cologne-based company will be taking to the streets on Sunday, 9 July 2023, with around 100 people and the “Proud Roll Models” campaign. Numerous employees as well as drag queens, influencers and guests will be taking part.

The initiative to take part in the 2023 Pride Parade in Cologne originated within the company: Since autumn 2022, employees have been regularly exchanging ideas on how to live diversity, tolerance and variety in everyday working life as part of the “Diversity Round Table”. The round table also looks at the extent to which the company can get involved in this context and support the LGBTQIA+ community in Cologne and beyond. The activities focus in particular on initiatives that are committed to an open and diverse society.

“Proud Roll Models” campaign creates a presence and raises awareness

With the “Proud Roll Models” campaign, EAT HAPPY wants to give the LGBTQIA+ community more presence in the spirit of the parade and raise awareness in a tasty and playful way. With support from the queer community, the company has created eight “Proud Roll Models” in the form of sushi rolls that represent the different letters of the LGBTQIA+ term to match the core product – fresh sushi to go. At the same time, real “Proud Roll Models” have their say as testimonials and explain which role models have influenced them in their lives and to what extent they themselves act as role models.

“Diversity, tolerance and variety characterise EAT HAPPY,” explains Florian Bell, CEO of the EAT HAPPY GROUP. “The people who work here contribute their ideas regardless of age, gender, nationality and sexual orientation and thus contribute to the success of the company. We are proud of this and, together with all our employees, we are looking forward to taking part in ColognePride for the first time.”
